Welcome to the TGO Challenge, the world's premier backpacking event!

Every May sees around 300 backpackers hike from Scotland's west coast to east, through some of the most stunning – and testing – landscapes in Europe. It's a test of backcountry skills, navigation and stamina – but Challengers also share wonderful camaraderie and friendship. Full details appear in the October issue of The Great Outdoors magazine, Britain's leading authority on hillwalking and backpacking for more than 30 years. The Great Outdoors Challenge is sponsored by The Great Outdoors magazine and supported by specialist outdoor footwear company Hanwag in association with Fjällräven.
